An 80-foot wall of dentures is created in Michigan because… art
We’ve seen all kinds of art here at Lost At E Minor, but this might be the first time we’ve seen denture art. Created by New Delhi-based artist Mithu Sen, ‘Border Unseen’, as her work is called, is an 80-foot ‘sculptural barricade’ made of mostly dentures (and a few other knick knacks). But why dentures, why?
Sen explained to BOMB Magazine:
‘By using hair, teeth, and also my own blood, I tried to add a dimension of the organic to the overall materiality of my work. Teeth, hair, and blood are parts of the human body – very visceral and literal. They are common to all regardless of racial, regional, gender, class, or caste-based differences. By using them as material, I intended to make a statement about the universality of human existence. It has been my response to all sorts of inequalities that exist around us’.
Love it or hate it, Mithu Sen has surely made an impact in the art world with this piece.
I didn’t forget, I just didn’t want to ruin your birthday.
Me going to sleep:
I’m so comfortable *snuggles into bed*
*An hour later*
Omg, how was this position ever comfortable and now there are cats surrounding me and I can’t move… uuugghhhhhhh
Treehouse, Redmond, USA, by Steve Rondel http://goo.gl/B4RMuF
“Steve Rondel’s children grew up before he could finish this exeptional treehouse. He started it 20 years ago when his oldest son was 5. Now he is looking for grandchildren to give him an excuse to push on.”
a new zine called shitty horoscopes that i’ll be premiering this year at the Toronto Queer Zine Fair, among other things! hopefully i’ll make volumes available for online purchase soon. credit where credit is due: this was inspired by the huge number of made-up horoscopes floating around tumblr lately, and angry-poems.
